The High Council of Justice is preparing for public consultation. The main topic of the discussion will be the initiative of the Council, according to which offensive statements against judges will become punishable.
The attempt of judiciary authorities to censor the vocabulary used towards judges is considered as censoreship by the Charter of Journalistic Ethics .
The Charter of Journalistic Ethics has responded to the members of the High Council of Justice with a special statement and reminded the authorities about the Charter`s functions. The civil sector believs that a new initiative of the Justice Council is another example of the problems that are in the judiciary in general.
According to the Bar Association, the additional sanctions of the Council of Justice will only threaten the freedom of expression. The Public Defender will not support the proposed initiative.
The Council of Justice announces public discussions involving various professional groups. It is already known that the third sector does not see the need for participation in public discussion.
