Levan Murusidze may be appointed as a judge for a lifetime. Members of the Council of Justice will take decision tomorrow.
Eva Gotsiridze, Member of the High Council of Justice raised the question about a permanent appointment of Levan Murusidze on the position of judge on April 22. Despite the fact that majority of the Council members supported the initiative, the contrary arguments had the advisor of the analytical department of the High Council of Justice Natia Makhatadze and Vakhtan Mchedlishvili, a member of the council elected by the President`s quota.
In 2015, the issue of appointing Levan Murusidze as a judge for a three-year probationary period, was a very difficult decision for judges made because of his reputation, and especially the high-profile cases.
According to the lawyers, the Council is using the legal situation and is not waiting for the legislative regulations to b adopted by the Parliament on July 1, which will solve the issue of appointing judges for three years.
