The National Action Plan for Gender Equality Policy was discussed at a meeting held in Tbilisi today. According to the National Action Plan 2017, violence against women remains an acute challenge.

Establishment of an Inter-agency Commission on Gender Equality, Women and Domestic Violence is also planned for effective implementation of gender equality policy. 

"The Parliament will finally ratify the Istanbul Convention and the legislative amendments , which are necessary for entering this convention into the force,"- said Tamar Chugoshvili,a deputy Chairman of Georgian Parliament.
