Constitutional amendments - civil sector sends document to Venice Commission

The civil sector has already sent a document to the Venice Commission regarding constitutional amendments. The 13-page letter elaborated by the four non-governmental organizations assesses the work of the Constitutional Commission, as well as the attitude towards the draft amendments adopted by the Commission.

The Transparency International, Fair Elections, GYLA and the Open Society Foundation focus on the amendments to the electoral system, the rule of choice of the president and the determination of the term marriage.

The Transparency International - Georgia Parliamentary Secretary emphasizes that the document focuses on the electoral system.

"The governing power once again noted that all the remarks of the Venice Commission would be taken into consideration, and we hope that this promise will be fulfilled and in our view, it is clear that the unfair electoral system will be an essentially part of the Venice Commission`s conclusion," said Lika Sajaia.

Along with the Venice Commission, the document was sent to other international missions and diplomatic agencies.
