Detention of former prison staff involved in inhumane treatment of prisoners continues

Detention of former prison staff accused of inhumane treatment of prisoners continues. The Prosecutor`s Office has charged seven persons, including Oleg Patsatsia, head of the Gldani prison. About 600 prisoners were interviewed on this case, but only 21 received the status of victims. When will the court hear 1,000 pages of material is unknown.

Akaki Ochigava has already told the investigation about the inhuman treatment in the so-called Gldani prison. He is one of the victims in the case on which former six former employees of the prison and former head of the prison are charged. The prosecutor`s office says that the accused were distinguished with cruelty towards prisoners. They used different methods to humiliate the prisoners
Though they have information about disputed episodes, the lawyers have not yet studied the case materials in detail. Before getting acquainted with the evidence, they became suspicious about the fact that only five years after the investigation began, the detentions of the suspects started though 6 of them have been interrogated several times.

Persons accused of inhuman or degrading treatment of prisoners will be taken to the court tomorrow, where the judge will discuss the issue of preventing measures for them.
