The Case of Rustavi2 was one of the main topics, which was raised by parliamentarians during the discussion of the Public Defender"s report today.
The ombudsman focuses on the freedom of expression of an independent TV company and believes that the government"s threat of unjustified interference should be excluded.
"The Public Defender has been observing the trial around Rustavi 2 and the developments in the Public Broadcaster. The Public Defender considers these cases in the context of media freedom and emphasizes that the threat of any interference should be excluded from any government "Ucha Nanuashvili said.
Revaz Arveladze,the deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Sector Economy and Economic Policy, was interested if there are facts of the government interference in Rustavi2"s case .
Irma Nadirashvili, the member of faction Movement for Freedom- European Georgia expressed her interest and asked how fair it is that nine judges who have given Rustavi 2 to Kibar Khalvashi still are on their positions.
Levan Gogichaishvili, a member of Georgian Dream applied to the Public Defender.
"Do you think that the current owners, namely de facto owner Mr. Saakashvili and the team that now owns Rustavi2, have deprived the owners who are now appealing to court the TV company?"
Ucha Nanuashvili focuses on interference in work of Rustavi 2.
"We were talking about interference and the interference was the decision of the judge when the temporary administration was created for Rustavi 2 and accordingly the decision was exactly the signs of interference, ," Ucha Nanuashvili said.
