The Public Defender of Georgia responds to the forced abduction of the Azerbaijani journalist from the territory of Georgia and calls it "alarming." Ucha Nanuashvili says that the relevant state agencies should be held responsible for the incident.
According to the Ombudsman, the incident reveals that the security of any citizen is not protected in Georgia today.
According to Nanuashvili, it is especially alarming that the kidnapping of a man happened in the city center and he was taken to a neighboring country.
"It is very sad and we can say that the alarming fact is when a man disappears in the center of the city and then we learn that he is a victim of torture and ill-treatment in another neighboring state. The issue of responsibility of relevant state structures should be raised. I mean political responsibility.
"Unfortunately, this fact makes me think that nobody is protected in this country and this fact can be repeated at any time, especially when it comes to moving in a neighboring state and it is the most alarming.
If the Georgian authorities did not know about it this is of course alarming and if you knew it was even worse, it"s a sad fact, "said Ucha Nanuashvili.
