Opposition calls on government to make use of resolution adopted in UN

The opposition representatives have responded to the resolution supporting the return of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.

According to Salome Samadashvili, deputy chairwoman of the National Movement faction, the government should activate the UN resolution in Geneva talks.

"The results obtained in the UN should be used in the format of Geneva negotiations, where we see that despite long-term negotiations with regard to refugees, the issue is not going forward. It is important that the Georgian authorities manage and activate the UN resolution issue at Geneva talks, " - said Samadashvili.

Giorgi Kandelaki, a member of the European Georgia Faction, said that the issue of return of IDPs should be topical at the highest political level.

"The resolution has been adopted this year with improved results, but unfortunately it is not enough to get our IDPs back," - Giorgi Kandelaki said.
