Government does not have new information about Joseph Osarauli captured in Congo

The Embassy of Georgia in South Africa does not have new information about Joseph Osarauli captured in Congo.

On May 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released information that Osarauli was reportedly killed during one of the clashes. The Ambassador of Georgia to South Africa, Beka Dvali, explained that the Foreign Ministry continued to verify the facts.

Confirmed information that he is still alive is not yet available. Soso Osauruli, as the Defense Ministry said, left the armed forces due to received offer from Congo.

According to Georgia’s Ambassador to South African Republic Beka Dvali, the video address by Georgian pilot Soso Osurauli was released several months ago.

According to him this was not a surprise for the captured pilot’s family members. Dvali calls on all to be careful as the topic is very sensitive.

The president"s administration is involved in the process of verification of information.

"The Secretary of Foreign Affairs is involved in this process, he is daily in communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as with our Embassy in South Africa, you know that Georgia does not have Embassy in Congo," - said Eka Mishveladze, the Speaker of the President of Georgia.
