Electoral system and rule of choice of the president - Constitutional amendments will be discussed at extraordinary session

Members of the "European Georgia" are attending the extraordinary sitting on constitutional amendments in the Parliament. Questions, mainly from the members of the opposition, are related to the electoral system, the rule of electing the president and the Security Council.

Sergo Ratiani, Member of the Parliamentary Faction "European Georgia" asked the Chairman of the Parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze to name the term of transition to the proportional system.

The deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee for environmental protection and natural resources, Endzela Machavariani, made a statement on the transition to the proportional system saying that "the decision was made to move the country
to proportional system when the country would be well prepared for it."

The Chairman of the Parliament answered the opposition`s questions. According to Irakli Kobakhidze, they have asked the Venice Commission to draw up another conclusion, which will be final about constitutional amendments in October,.

In regard to the rule of electing the president, the opposition speaks about political revenge towards the president of Georgia. The questions were also asked about the annulment of the Security Council. Irakli Kobakhidze pointed out to the inefficiency of the Security Council.

"Today the Security Council is zero-efficient ,"- Kobakhidze said.
