A Public Defender has presented the annual report of the National Preventive Mechanism. Ucha Nanuashvili once again indicates in the document that it is necessary to create an independent investigative mechanism that will examine the facts of ill-treatment in the penitentiary system.

According to Ucha Nanuashvili, the main challenge is the rehabilitation and re socialization of prisoners.

" Facts of ill-treatment which are not investigated remain as the main problem. Therefore we need to set up an independent investigative mechanism again ... The ill-treatment remains one of the serious problems in the Ministry of Internal Affairs," Ucha Nanuashvili said.
