The statement of Mikheil Saakashvili, where he speaks about the unification of the opposition, was followed by the assessments in the non-parliamentary opposition. They believe that the common candidate is the only way to win the elections.
"The demand itself is in the society that this pro-western political course be very strong and stable in our country. So, this is one of the issues that we are compelled to work with. Moreover, we not only think that this unity is necessary, there have already started some backstage processes between political parties and attempts to achieve this unity, "- Bachuki Kardava, the chairman of the National Democratic Party of Georgia said.
Giorgi Akhvlediani, a member of the main board of the Democratic Movement - United Georgia states that discussions about the common candidate in the Leadership Council have already been held for three months.
"If Saakashvili want to ascribe this process to himself ,it will not work, because this idea brewed in his brain, the whole opposition specter had been talking about this topic," Giorgi Akhvlediani .
