NATO Membership, Russia"s Aggressive Policy - NATO Secretary General Speaks of Key messages of Munich Conference

"Georgia is a valued partner of NATO. Alliance continues its political and practical support, "- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Munich.

Munich International Security Conference has opened. Jens Stoltenberg commented to the media before delivering his speech at the 54th Conference.

According to NATO Secretary General, Georgia deserves to join the alliance, but membership depends on the decision of member states.

"As far as the Russian threat is concerned, we do not see this threat against our allies as inevitable. However, we face stronger Russia which has used military force against neighboring Ukraine, which has armed forces in Georgia and Moldova. NATO is responding, but our reaction is proportional and measured, it is aimed at preventing new armed and new cold wars. We continue to work for dialogue with Russia, "- Stoltenberg said.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the adviser of the President of Ukraine, says that Georgia and Ukraine should continue reforms to join the alliance.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze said that in the framework of Munich Conference, the evening dedicated to Georgia will be held - Georgian politics and literature.

The three-day forum in Munich is attended by hundreds of delegates and 30 heads of states. Among them are actors and former politicians.

Georgian delegation is headed by Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
