The first visit of "Oak Hill" to Georgia. Official reception was held on the US sixth fleet ship"s in Batumi port.

The purpose of the visit is to strengthen the cooperation between the United States and Georgia and maritime security in the region.

"This is another example and a symbol of US support for Georgia"s sovereignty and independence. This huge ship is a symbol of how the US forces can mobilize around the world. I am glad that last week I was able to take part in this event, "US Ambassador Jan Kelly said.

The ship crew is about 700 members out of whom 330 are sailors, the rest are soldiers, 30 percent of whom are women.
