April 14 is the day of the Georgian language. In the frames of the Language Week, the President of Georgia awarded the philologists and professors with the Order of Honor for a special contribution to the preservation and popularization of state language.

The winners of the student competition were awarded too .

The Language Day is celebrated in Georgia after the Georgian population maintained the state language in 1978 at the cost of unanimous opposition to the Communist Party.
