The European Union calls on the Armenian authorities to release persons detained during the rallies.

The statement posted on the official website of the Foreign Service Department states that Brussels is waiting for the fulfillment of international obligations from official Yerevan and respecting the fundamental rights of freedom of expression.

"Everyone who has been detained during the realization of their legal right must be released immediately," the statement reads.
