Opposition calls on the government to change drug policy

"Today"s drug policy is still not adequate," says Salome Samadashvili, deputy chairperson of the parliamentary faction " United National Movement" while speaking about the existing drug policy.

According to Salome Samadashvili, the government can not protect youth and cannot properly punish the drug dealers.

Giorgi Tugushi, the member of the parliamentary faction "European Georgia - Movement for Freedom", states that the state faces a critical line.

"The government will have to take decisive steps. On the one hand, they should fight against drug dealers and on the other hand, of course, they have to work to change the drug policy, "Tugushi said.
Representatives of the civil sector say that if there are no real steps towards liberalization of drug policy in 10 days, they will appeal extreme measures and start a hunger strike.

Discussions on drug legislation in committees were postponed for one month.
