"We expect Angela Merkel to make a statement about her meeting with Vladimir Putin at the meeting with the Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze," - said Elguja Khokrishvili, Georgia"s ambassador to Germany said.
According to him, it was agreed from the beginning that the details of the meeting with Putin should not be made public.
"We are closely cooperating with Germany. The visit of the German Federal Chancellor is very important for us. When Angela Merkel met Vladimir Putin, from the outset she agreed that the details of the meeting would not be published.
"We want to move bilateral cooperation with Germany into a new format, Germany is one of the leading EU countries and supports Georgia"s European and Euro-Atlantic integration," Khokrishvili said.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel pays an official visit to Georgia on August 23-24.
