Salome Zurabishvili"s statements have also come to the attention of Turkey. On one of the Turkish sites a political columnist published an article where he writes why Georgian nongovernmental organizations accused Zurabishvili of xenophobia. It is about the meeting with ethnic Armenian citizens of Georgian in Samtskhe-Javakheti region in early October when a presidential candidate said that the previous president gave citizenship to many Turks and not Armenians. The civil sector believes that this statement by Zurabishvili provoked hatred, which was xenophobic and anti-state. The Turkish politologist suggests that Zurabishvili is instructed by the separatists.
