"Georgia fully ensures the protection of our country"s interests in this process" - Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia responds to the ongoing process in the Hague Court.
According to Kobakhidze, all responsible bodies are involved and working to protect Georgia"s interests at international level.
According to the head of the legislative body, "Georgan Dream" had consultations with the executive authorities, after which it became clear that the Georgian side in the Hague Court will fully protect the interests of the country.
Irakli Kobakhidze criticizes the opponents and accuses them of speculation in Georgia-Russia issue.
"There can be no speculation on a topic related to our common national interests. Unfortunately, the opposition is distinguished by this in the pre-election process, and in general, it speculates even those issues related to our common national interests, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
As for the demand of the National Movement to summon the Foreign and Justice Ministers to Georgia, the Speaker sees no need of it.
“If this initiative is based on the speculations planed by the Russian PR technologists, naturally we see no need of it. The speculations on the issues related to our common national interests are inadmissible. Unfortunately, the opposition is dignified with speculations in this pre-election process and in general, it speculates even on the issues related to our common national interests”, the Speaker said.
The opponents of the government suspect that the "Georgian Dream" team is not only trying not to present evidence in the Hague for the benefit of its military and politicians but prevents this process.
The trial in the Hague Court started in 2008 and both countries: Georgia, Russia and Tskhinvali occupation regime were conducting the investigation itself.
Since 2014, Hague"s prosecutors have been involved in the process. The Hague"s criminal court should reveal the guilt of concrete persons involved in war crimes.
