Pressure, threat, bribery and use of administrative resources - ISFED calls the survey worrying


Another noisy survey of the NGO "Fair Elections" and facts, that raise serious question marks before the second round of elections. The pressure, threats, bribery and use of administrative resources - these violations have reached larger scales and are observed in all municipalities of the country. One of the country"s most influential NGOs assesses the electoral environment in the country during the past month.

"In many cases, there are facts that are not directed to one voter but are directed to a large scale of voters: public servants in specific municipalities, specific kindergartens or school teachers or employees of various private agencies. This is quite problematic, "said Mikheil Benidze.

According to ISFED, in the reporting period there were 40 cases of intimidation/pressure, 1 case of threat to a presidential candidate; 3 cases of dismissal from work due to political reason, 13 cases of alleged bribery of voters; 14 cases of use of administrative resources, 2 cases of hindering pre-election campaign; 6 cases of damage to agitation materials and 1 case of interference with observer activities.
