According to Metropolitan Anania, a member of the Holy Synod, the Georgian Church supports the claim of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to grant autocephaly, but does not agree with its recognition.
According to him, this issue may be discussed at the Synod session.
"The Church of any country has the right to demand autocephaly but we do not recognize the autocephaly of Ukraine, there are some procedures in this regard. I do not know when the Synod session will be held. We will probably discuss this issue", - said Archbishop Anania.
The Synod of the Orthodox Church of Greece has supported the recognition of the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
