In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and ahead of Easter celebrations this weekend, the Government has decided to prohibit driving for the next five days, till April 21.
Thus, driving with the car is restricted countrywide in Georgia from 12 o’clock tomorrow until April 21st.
According to the Prime Minister’s spokesperson Irakli Chikovani, this restriction does not apply to cargo transportation.
“I would like to emphasize that the grocery stores, pharmacies or all other facilities that have worked so far will carry on working. As of today, we have a total of 348 confirmed cases and the stage of active internal distribution has started in the country. Public health officials expect a significant increase in the cases of infection in the next 2-3 weeks. The Government has taken timely measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19”, - said Chikovani.
He added that wearing face masks in closed spaces will also become mandatory. Besides, the Prime Minister’s spokesperson does not rule out that the necessity of instituting strict quarantine procedures may emerge in the country.
