The Committee held the field meeting with the local farmers and cooperatives in Gurjaani attended by the Governor of Kakheti Region, Irakli Shiolashvili and Gurjaani Mayor, Archil Khandamashvili.

The parties discussed the main needs necessary for the cooperatives for their activity.

At that, MPs introduced the inquiry details about the cooperatives concerning the monitoring of the enforcement of the law. The parties discussed the windbreaker arrangements and heard the positions of the farmers concerning the respective bill.

“Today, we are here to visit the local farms and cooperatives as in the nearest future we intend to initiate the bill on windbreakers as a significant precondition for the increased harvest. It was the topic of our meeting in Iormuganlo with one of the large farming economy. At the place, we got cognizant of the position of the local farmers concerning the windbreakers and the successful examples of the establishment of these windbreakers. We also visited the places that the windbreakers have not been yet established. The farmers are aware of the importance of the windbreakers against soil erosion, and for mitigation of the negative effect of the wind. Hence, we strive to establish active communication with the farmers and it is important that this meeting was also attended by the local authorities, Mayors, Governors and Single Mandate MP, David Songulashvili. We held the representative meetings with the farmers and cooperatives”, - said the Chair of the Committee Nino Tsilosani.
