This was a case of anaphylaxis, which is a very severe allergic reaction to a component of the vaccine and which was detected in case of other vaccines as well. Such a statement made a representative of the World Health Organization, Soumya Swaminathan, while commenting the death of a nurse after AstraZeneca vaccination in Georgia.
“In order to minimize such cases, it is recommended, first of all, to make sure that all vaccines are given in an environment where there are doctors, where the medicines necessary to treat people who develop a severe allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock are available.
Such a reaction can usually be cured if it is done in a well-equipped medical facility.
The second issue is that whoever gets the vaccine should be monitored for about 30 minutes, especially those who have a history of anaphylaxis.
In this case they need very careful observation from the medical staff.
And it is necessary to convince people that the benefits of vaccines outweigh their risks”, - said Soumya Swaminathan.
