As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained two citizens of Georgian on the fact of breach of procedures related to the movement of particularly large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.

Investigation determined that the accused persons, from the Republic of Turkey, through the customs checkpoint “Sarpi”, hidden from customs control, has brought particularly large amount of undeclared gold and silver products.

As a result of investigative activities, total amount of 701.67 grams of gold and 26.54 grams of silver products were seized, total customs value of which exceeds GEL 76 000.

Investigations is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
