Anzor Erkomaishvili, the founder of the ensemble “Rustavi”, died at the age of 80. He was placed in The First University Clinic with COVID-19 and was on managed breathing.
Erkomaishvili from 1968 he was the head of the vocal ensemble “Rustavi”. He has published 7 Georgian (Gurian) folk songs recorded and deciphered by him.
He prepared a collection, “Gurian Folk Songs”, for publication. He is the author of the books “Strange Sound”, “Grandpa”, “Black Thrush complained”.
Erkomaishvili received the Presidential Order of Excellence, the Ivane Javakhishvili Prize, the Shota Rustaveli State Prize, the Ilia Chavchavadze Prize, the Ekvtime Takaishvili Prize, the Iakob Gogebashvili Prize, and the Albert Schweitzer Prize.
