Georgia celebrates Saint George’s day. Saint George has always been especially honored and respected as a patron saint of Georgia and there are hundreds of churches dedicated to him. Georgian Orthodox Christians celebrate Saint George’s Day, Giorgoba, twice a year - on May 6 - when the saint passed away and on November 23 - when he was tortured on a wheel.
Church services will be held in all functioning churches. The social distance in the temples will be protected and everyone will follow the recommendation.
The Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II will arrive to the Holy Trinity Cathedral and conduct festive liturgy.
