The protest of Borjomi Factory workers continues

The protest of up to 350 workers of the Borjomi Mineral Water Bottling Factories No 1 and 2 continues. They are demanding higher salaries and better working conditions.

The employer company released a statement regarding the protest. As they said, even during the pandemic 100% of the employees were retained and the salary fund was increased by 10%. However, “IDS Borjomi Georgia” added, while they are ready to consider increasing salaries again, the demand of the striking employees is a 50% increase, which is why no agreement can be reached.

Borjomi mineral water company has announced the temporary suspension of operations at two of its plants to “avoid provocations staged by activists”.

“As a company with a high level of responsibility we are suspending the operations at both of the plants to avoid provocations staged by the activists of the trade union that endanger the health and safety of people”, - reads the statement.

The company has meanwhile noted that it is ready to restore its operations as soon as “the illegal activities are over”.
