The officers of Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-search and investigative activities, detained two persons wanted since July 11 of the current year - I.G. (DoB1987), and T.Ch. (DoB 1992) in Tbilisi on the basis of the relevant court decision.
I.G. was wanted for membership of the “thieves’ world”, while T.Ch. - for the membership in the “thieves’ world” and participation in the so-called “criminal gathering”.
The committed crime envisages from 7 to 10 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that both detainees recognized the “thieves’ world” and had active connections with other members of the “thieves’ world”. It was also established that T.Ch. And I.G. actively participated in the activities of the “thieves world” along with the individuals who were arrested on July 8 of the current year as a result of complex operative and investigative activities that lasted for six month, in cooperation with Rustavi District Prosecutor’s Office. T.Ch. also participated in “criminal skirmishes” and acted in accordance with rules established by the “thieves world”.
I.G. was wanted by the law enforcers for crime envisaged under the first part of Article 223(1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates membership of the “thieves’ world”, while T.Ch. was wanted for the crime under the first part of Article 223(1) and Article 223(2) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which includes membership of the "thieves "world" and participation in “criminal gatherings”. Both were charged in absentia and sentenced to custody by the court.
The detainees are currently being held in a penitentiary facility.
As a result of a six-month complex operative and investigative activities jointly carried out by Kvemo Kartli Police Department and the Rustavi District Prosecutor’s Office, 31 persons connected with the “thieves’ world” were detained - including 25 citizens, detained by the law enforcers on July 8, 4 individuals who were charged in penitentiary facility, and 2 Persons, namely -I.G. and T.Ch. who were wanted on the basis of evidences obtained by law enforcers.
