Person, detained for injuring UNM activists in Dmanisi, is a son of Georgian Dream majoritarian candidate. Police already detained D.D. (DoB1993) for inflicting severe health injury on purpose.

The committed crime envisages from 3 to 6 years of imprisonment.

Accused D.D. used a knife to injure one of the supporter’s face of the United National Movement party on September 21. The incident took place in the village of Gantiani, when during the verbal and physical confrontation the supporters of the UNM - M.O. (DoB 1976) and Sh.S. (DoB 1983) were inflicted various injuries and taken to the hospital, where relevant medical aid was provided to the victims.

Police arrested the accused person as a result of immediate police activities, a few hours after the incident in Dmanisi Municipality.

During the physical confrontation in the village of Gantiadi, other persons involved in the confrontation also received various injuries.

At this moment, intensive investigative and operative measures are being conducted to identify all persons involved in the incident and to impose appropriate legal liability.

On the fact of severe health damage on purpose and group violence, the investigation is in progress under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and Article 1261, Part I, Sub-paragraph “B”.
