5 citizens of Georgia detained for murdering British tourist in Gori. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainees were drinking alcohol in an underground passage in Gori on October 7. 27-year-old British citizen Thomas Kennedy joined them and all together went to a bar to continue drinking.

Police also say that later a verbal dispute led to a physical confrontation between the 5 Georgian citizens and British tourist.

Following the confrontation, the persons involved in the conflict went to the Mtkvari River, where 5 detainees attacked the foreigner and then threw him into the river. Then the detainees fled the scene of the crime.

The body of Thomas Kennedy was found dumped near the village of Kvakhvreli on October 8. The crime is punishable by 13 to 17 years in prison. Detainees are expected to be charged today.
