Georgian diplomat, publicist, writer, teacher and TV presenter Gela Charkviani has died at the age of 82.
The information was spread by his daughter, Teona Charkviani on her Facebook page.
“My most beloved and precious father has passed away. We and the country have lost a distinguished person - Gela Charkviani”, - wrote Teona Charkviani.
Gela Charkviani was born in 1939, in the family of Candide Charkviani, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Georgia, and Tamar Jaoshvili, an ophthalmologist.
In 1957 he finished school in Moscow and continued to study architecture in the Georgian Technical Institute. In 1963 he graduated from Ilia Chavchavadze Institute of Foreign Languages. In 1970 he took a qualification course in Michigan University.
