The 103rd Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism convened in Ergneti, co-facilitated by the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
Participants discussed the impact of the closure of crossing points and other restrictions affecting the livelihoods of the conflict-affected population. They focused on the most recent security developments at the Administrative Boundary Line, detention cases, the situation in the Chorchana - Tsnelisi area and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the main topics, raised by the Georgian side, was the release of the detainee Gela Gochoshvili. He was detained by the occupation regime on August 14, and was sentenced to 1 year in prison by the Tskhinvali de facto court. Gochoshvili is accused of illegally crossing of the so-called border and smuggling.
