The Mayor of Tbilisi offers his condolences to the family of the teenager who died in an accident two days ago.

“There has been a very severe tragedy. I offer my sincere condolences to the family of the teenager who died in an accident two days ago. It is very difficult to talk about all this and even to find the words. I would like to express my condolences to his family, relatives and friends.

According to the preliminary data, the cause of the child’s death was an artisanally installed electrical device in the pavilion. Everyone should know that any artisanal connection is illegal, and no one has the right to carry out this type of work without proper authorization and the involvement of specialists. I don’t want to make any statements beforehand. Of course, all questions will be answered by the investigation. I declare with all responsibility that there was no permission issued by the Municipality to connect the power line in the mentioned recreation pavilion - it was connected in an unauthorized way. I would also like to point out that there is no electrical wiring in the recreation pavilions constructed by the Municipality, with the exception of several parks of an urban importance.

Some media have spread incorrect, distorted information that the tragic incident is related to the landscaping works started by the Town Council of Vake District. This is a total lie and slander. Against the background of this great tragedy, any political speculation is inappropriate and very embarrassing. We appeal and ask media representatives not to contribute to the spread of lies and misinformation against the background of this tragedy. Let no one try to score political points by capitalizing on this calamity”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
