The Prime Minister of Georgia claimed the country’s territorial integrity could be restored either through reconciliation with Abkhaz and Ossetian communities or through war, and accused those allegedly opposing the former to be “entering the war scenario”.
“The crime committed by these people [United National Movement] in August 2008 was treacherous. They wanted to cover up their crimes with false statements, but they didn’t succeed.
The public knows everything about this war, how it started, what happened before, how [Mikheil] Saakashvili’s regime was moving towards all this, and finally what they did on August 7. In fact, everyone knows everything. Memory does not fade, we all remember every second, every minute of what happened on August 7. There is also an archive that stores information about how Saakashvili’s regime started military operations on August 7.
As for reconciliation, it should be explained here once again that there are 2 ways to restore the integrity of the territories of Georgia: one way is war, the other way is reconciliation. Anyone who opposes reconciliation automatically goes to war.
They are the war party, we have a different agenda. Reconciliation after we had a fratricidal war in the country can only happen on the basis of mutual forgiveness. This is such an axiomatic truth that it can be protested by such forces that are based on lies and violence, this is unacceptable for us”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
