The National Bureau of Enforcement [NBE] issued a statement regarding the eviction process on Kekelidze Street in Tbilisi.
“Starting at 11:00 on January 23, 2024, the enforcement police is carrying out the eviction process on Kekelidze Street in Tbilisi based on the enforcement warrant issued by the court. Supporters of the debtor are mobilized on the spot and are physically resisting the enforcement police.
The information spread by some media, as if there was use of gas by the enforcement police, is a lie. On the contrary, the people in the apartment allegedly used pepper spray against the rescue service and enforcement police in order to disrupt the process, during which several police officers were injured. They also verbally and physically abused the enforcement officers. Officers of the enforcement police were injured, and state property was also damaged.
The said eviction process has been postponed 5 times during 6 years by the enforcement police. During this time, the NBE took all measures to settle the case, negotiations between the parties were actively underway, where the creditor offered the debtor an alternative living space, which the debtor refused.
The NBE carries out the eviction process in full compliance with the law. We call on the citizens to obey the legal demands of the police”, - reads the statement.
On Kekelidze Street, in Tbilisi, the employees of the NBE evicted a family from the house amid noise and protests.
