The Varieties of Democracy Institute (V-Dem) [Sweden-based political science research institute], published the 2023 Core Civil Society Index, which had ranked Georgia’s non-governmental sector 77th globally.

The Index examines the NGO sector and assesses how firmly and correctly civil society organisations fulfil their public mission and duties, how well [freely and actively] citizens" interests are manifested in the non-governmental sector.

The 2023 Index showed that the assessment of the Georgian non-governmental sector had significantly worsened, facing a notable setback, plummeting 50 positions from 27th to 77th in the global ranking.

Georgia’s NGO sector falls behind Armenia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and other countries of the region.

The organization is one of the research projects on which the World Bank’s Global Governance Indicators are based.
