Kakha Kaladze meets the Mayors of Baku and Ganja

The Mayor of Tbilisi reviewed ties with Eldar Azizov, the Mayor of the Azerbaijani capital of Baku and Niyazi Bayramov, the Mayor of Ganja.

The parties discussed deepening ties between the two capitals as twin cities.

“Georgia and Azerbaijan are connected by centuries-old friendly relations. We also are connected culturally, and I am happy that, with the support of the Georgian Government, the Heydar Aliyev Drama Theater is being built in Tbilisi”, - said Kakha Kaladze.

He also thanked Ganja authorities for opening a memorial board for Nikoloz Baratashvili and invited the visiting Mayors to Tbilisoba.

On his part, Azizov noted Azerbaijan’s relations with Georgia as “very important” to the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev: “The Georgian people are very important for every Azerbaijani. I would like to thank the Georgian Government for its attitude towards Azerbaijanis living in your country. Every country in the world is facing challenges, the same applies to our countries. Therefore, establishing relations between countries and cities is essential. Any success is based on the human factor. I am always glad to meet you and I am glad to be here”.

The Baku and Ganja mayors were on visit to Tbilisi for the 14th Forum of Local Economic Development.
