The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested and expelled 26 citizens of various countries in June for illegal residence. According to the agency, they deported citizens of Iran, Pakistan, Jordan, Iraq, Russia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Nigeria, India and other states who had entered the country and resided without a legal status.

“Some of the citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while others were forcibly expelled from the country as a result of the measures taken by the Migration Department.

Based on the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons”, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq, Russian Federation, Arab Republic of Egypt, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Republic of India and others were expelled from the country. A total of 26 citizens of foreign countries.

The Migration Department of the MIA is the body responsible for the fight against illegal migration within the country. One of its competences is to identify foreign citizens who are in Georgia without a legal basis and to expel them from Georgia”, - reads the statement.
