Leader of the "European Georgia" political party, Giga Bokeria, expressed disappointment regarding the lack of response from the leadership of the “Ahali” and “Lelo” parties concerning unification efforts.
“The negotiation process has reached a deadlock. The studies indicate a growing rating for European Georgia… The combined results of several opposition centres are better than those of a unified list… Over 60% of opposition voters do not support a unified list.
Before learning the results of this study and afterwards, we appealed not only publicly but also privately to the leadership of these political parties. After the initial communication, unfortunately, we have heard nothing from the leaders of these parties.
While we hear general announcements on TV, there is no real negotiation process taking place. Many issues need to be clarified quickly so that voters can clearly see the picture. Instead, an impasse has been introduced. We don’t know the reason for this, and we don’t want to speculate. But it is a fact that for us, one of the main criteria for unification was and remains a clear distancing, separation from the [Mikheil] Saakashvili – [David] Kezerashvili alliance”, - explained Giga Bokeria.
