The Mayor of Tbilisi responds to the 16th anniversary of the August 2008 war, emphasizing the importance of a pragmatic approach by the Georgian Dream in restoring Georgia’s territorial integrity. As he said, the “terrible consequences of the 2008 war with Russia remained an open wound for the country”.
“16 years have passed since the disaster that befell our country. As a result of this war, we lost territories, civilians, and heroic soldiers. These are deep wounds that our country has yet to heal.
However, I believe that through the pragmatic policies of the Georgian Dream, it is possible to regain our territories and reunify the country. This is the dream of every Georgian. We must work towards restoring the country’s territorial integrity not through war, but through progress, peace, and economic development”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
He also highlighted the importance of investigating cases related to the war, noting that the Government has published a comprehensive letter on this subject.
“Achieving peace, investigating war-related cases, and punishing criminals are essential steps towards restoring Georgia’s territorial integrity, especially in the rapidly changing regional landscape”, - added the Mayor.
