We can assess all this as an attempt to influence the election results - Maka Bochorishvili on the statements made in Brussels

The Chairperson of the European Integration Committee, asserted that it is the sovereign right of the Georgian people to choose their government.

Thus Maka Botchorishvili responded to the comments made by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda [he highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections in Georgia, suggesting that maintaining the current status quo could hinder the country’s progress toward European integration].

“It is an abnormal situation when the leaders of other countries make so many comments about who should be in power. It is the sovereign right of the Georgian people to have the government they choose, and it is not up to the president of Lithuania to decide”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.

She also talked about the relations with the European Union.

“This transition period that exists in Brussels, for some reason is assessed as if something has been frozen, but in reality nothing has been frozen. After the elections, it is important for both us and the EU to sit at the negotiating table, which leads the country towards EU membership. This is the desire of the Georgian people, the Georgian Government, and the EU member states, as this decision has been made and exists since December of 2023. This is a process that both the EU and Georgia must engage in”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.
