The Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament approved a bill to ban face-covering at rallies in its 1st reading.
The document bans the wearing of masks at protest rallies. As members of the legislature discussed, it was possible that wearing of masks would also be banned in public places.
According to the representatives of Georgian Dream, the bill is intended to prevent people wearing masks from committing crimes, which had been the case on the streets of Tbilisi over the past few days.
The requirement to cover the face with a mask at protest rallies will come into effect next week. The Parliament will consider the new legislative initiative in an expedited manner and will adopt it during the current week.
