Nika Gvaramia, a Director general of Rustavi2 made explanations with regard to secret recordings at the special briefing a few minutes ago.

" Georgian Government has  confirmed that total illegal surveillance is being carried out in the country and there is no free space.  The only reason , why they could carry out surveillance, is this recording and I confirm their authenticity . The recordings had been made before October 19, when investigation was launched.

First of all, Mikheil Saakashvili is my close friend, his position is interesting for me but it doesn"t mean that we agree in positions.

Every  politician has a right to express the opinion, and they should be responsible for that. We have communication with many political forces. The same message was sent to me during the private talks by many other political forces.  None of political forces rule out shooting from the regime of Bidzina Ivanishvili.

We are not a political party, we are the television. Our sympathies to the certain political parties are based on our information policy, which is based on the Euro-integration processes. Accordingly on that depends our vision of broadcasting of the processes and the angle, but it does not mean that we serve any of the parties.

On the  revolution , or other kind of scenario decisions are made by politicians and not media. It is a mistake that media  can make a revolution. It was Rustavi2"s mistake to announce that the revolution in 2003 was achievement of Rustavi2 /. people make changes, politicians conduct political process. I reiterate once more that Rustavi2 is media. We have received advices from everyone. Thank you, but as it seems, you have to  refrain from that. But we are moving on and acting just as we consider it is necessary.

The decision of the employees of the company is that we will continue to protect the broadcasting company. Our rights are illegally violated, the freedom of speech is deprived illegally .

This fact confirms that I, Nika Gvaramia, a Director General of Rustavi2 was blackmailed. yes, The government was blackmailing me and yes, I knew about  existence of this recordings. Today everyone is sure that the Government really sent a messenger to me. This information is true. I was blackmailed, because they wanted to decide Rustavi2"s fate.  This government dares everything.

I state openly,  no matter who will be the initiator , but if anyone will be damaged, the government will be responsible for that."- states Nika Gvaramia.
