
Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has charged 22 individuals with illegal acquisition, possession, sale, attempted sale, and preparation for sale of narcotics.
An investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed that individuals arrested in connection with various criminal cases were selling drugs in different regions of Georgia, including through so-called “locations”. As a result of operations conducted, various types of illegally sold narcotics placed at locations have been seized.
The individuals apprehended have been charged with offenses related to the illegal acquisition, possession, sale, attempted sale, and preparation for sale of narcotic substances, which are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Upon the motion of the Prosecutor"s Office, the accused have been placed in pre-trial detention. The investigation of the criminal cases remains ongoing.
The criminal justice policy of the Prosecutor"s Office of Georgia is particularly stringent with respect to drug traffickers, and the procedural benefits provided by law are employed only in exceptional circumstances, such as when the accused cooperates with the investigation.
