Statement of Rustavi 2"s 91% shareholdes Karamanishvili brothers

First of all, we thank all those who supported and defended these days Rustavi 2 and freedom of speech. All the citizens, all the political forces and all the non-governmental organization. Your consistent, principled and fair fight, at this stage made it possible to give a chance for democracy, for freedom of speech but a decisive battle is still ahead. We thank each employee of the Rustavi-2, who had to work under incredible pressure during all this time and revealed high level of professionalism and sense of responsibility to their job.

Today in front of the whole of Georgia and the international community a violent act of political jurisdiction was conducted . The state used violence against not a particular company Rustavi-2, but also against freedom of speech and the Euro-Atlantic aspirations. We, the owners of Rustavi 2, state once again that we have no doubt in our final victory, in fact,  in spite of all the obstacles, we will be able to defend our property. No matter what manipulations the government applies to, we will maintain  Rustavi 2, because the truth is on our side, for there still exist democratic institutions like the Constitutional Court, and, most importantly, such is the will of the people, who want democracy, the country"s Euro-Atlantic integration, the country"s successful future, which the violent government is trying to seize from all of  us today,

Without Rustavi 2, without critical word, the country is deprived of the chance for successful development and fair electoral process, which leads to the situation when power is concentrated in one person hands including the judiciary and the fourth power

We want everyone and first of all, our highly professional staff to understand that this attack on free word carried out by the Russian scenario can not be successful. We will fight to the end, and we will win this battle.

Rustavi 2 is and will be independent of government, the most professional and top rated media in Georgia.
