Fire at the so-called Borjomi Railway Station market in Tbilisi

A massive fire that erupted at the Borjomi Railway Station market area in Tbilisi has been extinguished. Firefighting teams are currently attending to the location affected by the blaze.

Dozens of rescue personnel have been deployed to the scene to handle the aftermath.

The fire broke out in a section of the market containing clothing, fruits, vegetables, and various storage facilities. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries resulting from the incident. According to the preliminary reports, fire spread rapidly over an estimated 15,000 square meters.

"According to information from the emergency hotline 112, the fire began near the Borjomi Railway Station. Our teams arrived promptly. We successfully contained the fire at this stage. Additionally, patients from nearby clinics were evacuated to ensure their safety. The situation is now under control. As a precautionary measure, patients from surrounding clinics were evacuated, and ambulances transported them to nearby medical facilities", - said Levan Museliani, Head of the Tbilisi Fire and Rescue Forces.

A thorough investigation will be launched to establish what led to this incident.
