For over 3 decades, the Special State Protection Service officers serve the country with high professionalism, courage, dedication, defending our statehood and constitutional order – Papuashvili

Congratulations on the 31st anniversary of the Special State Protection Service! The Special State Protection Service [SSPS] holds an important place within our country`s security system. Over the years, the Service has developed an effective management system, kept pace with an ever-changing and challenging global environment, and introduced progressive reforms, new technologies, and training programmes. Speaker of the Parliament said this at the event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the SSPS.

As Shalva Papuashvili noted, for over three decades, the SSPS`s employees have served the country with high professionalism, bravery, and dedication, protecting statehood, constitutional order, as well as Georgian and foreign high-ranking officials present in Georgia.

"In recent times, especially at the end of last year, our country faced serious challenges to public order. We witnessed attacks on the Parliament building by violent groups. Under these conditions, the officers of the SSPS stood firmly in defence of the Parliament. You protected not only the Parliament building but the Parliament as a democratic institution. You acted with a high degree of professionalism under great risk. Your contribution to preventing threats against democratic processes is of vital importance. I express my sincere gratitude to every officer of the Service, especially those who carried out their duties during those difficult days.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Head of the Service, Mr. Anzor Chubinidze, for his many years of successful leadership.

I would like to pay tribute to the employees who lost their lives in the line of duty. These individuals will always hold a special place in the history of the Service and in our memory. On behalf of the Parliament, I once again warmly congratulate the current and former members of the SSPS on its 31st anniversary and reaffirm my deep respect and support. I wish you courage, resilience, endurance, and continued success for the benefit of our country", – said Shalva Papuashvili.
