Dmitry Medvedev says that Turkey protects ISIS fighters

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has made a statement regarding Russian warplane shot down by Turkey yesterday.

Medvedev expressed that the incident which he defines as “criminal act” might cause some joint projects to be cancelled.

Medvedev briefly said the following in his statement made at province of Yekaterinburg:

“Inconsiderate acts that qualify to be criminal by Turkish government that shot down Russian plane has led to three outcomes.

“Firstly, it led to a dangerous escalation in Russian-Nato ties in a way that cannot be legitimized under no national interest including protecting borders.

“Secondly, Turkey has shown that it protects ISIS militants by this action.

“Considering the direct financial benefits some Turkish authorities make through the delivery of oil products produced in ISIS-owned operations, this is not surprising.

“Thirdly, good neighboring ties including political and financial aspects between Russia and Turkey have been damaged. It will be difficult to fix it.

“This action might have directed consequences like cancelling a series of joint projects and Turkish companies losing their positions in Russian market”
